We asked August for some tips and tricks for autumn fishing 👇

August: In the autumn, pike bulk up for the winter and readily feed on large prey. Don’t be afraid to break out your heavy-duty pike gear and larger lures for this type of fishing. I prefer slightly rough weather and like fishing along drop-offs where there’s plenty of baitfish. Every lake and coastal area is different. You need to understand where the pike find food in your specific lake—what are the biggest pike in the lake eating?

To catch a truly big pike, you need to put in the time in the right spots; it’s no myth that patience is an angler’s best friend when targeting big pike! In the autumn, I prefer using slightly larger lures if you want to weed out the smaller pike!
